Purpose & Vision

Our Mission

We exist to put life-saving stroke knowledge in the hands, and hearts, of every child in America.

What We Stand For

Our Mission Statement

"

BeASuperhero is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing children with life-saving stroke education so they can become superheroes.

Every second matters during a stroke. By teaching children the BEFAST method early, we create a generation of young first responders, heroes ready to recognize stroke symptoms and call for help immediately.

The Urgency

Why Stroke Education Can't Wait

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Early recognition saves lives, and children can be the difference-makers.

The Difference We Make

Why Teaching Kids Is the Answer

Children are uniquely positioned to be first responders in their homes and communities.

01

Speed Saves Brains

For every minute a stroke goes untreated, approximately 1.9 million neurons are lost. A child who recognizes BEFAST and calls 911 immediately could prevent permanent disability or death.

02

Most Strokes Happen at Home

The majority of strokes occur at home where children are often present. Teaching them what to look for turns every household into a safer place for adults at risk.

03

Knowledge Sticks Young

Research shows that health education delivered early in life creates lasting behavioral change. Children who learn BEFAST retain it, and teach it to the adults around them.

04

Community Ripple Effect

One educated child reaches an entire family. Our Youth Ambassadors spread BEFAST to their peers, parents, and communities, multiplying the impact of every lesson we teach.

The Core of Our Curriculum

The BEFAST Method

BEFAST is the gold-standard acronym for recognizing stroke warning signs. We teach every child to use it, because knowing it can mean the difference between life and long-term disability.

B
Balance

Sudden loss of balance or coordination, trouble walking or standing that came out of nowhere.

E
Eyes

Sudden vision changes, blurred, doubled, or complete loss of vision in one or both eyes.

F
Face

Facial drooping on one side, ask them to smile. Does one side droop? That's a warning sign.

A
Arms

Arm weakness, ask them to raise both arms. Does one drift downward? Act immediately.

S
Speech

Slurred or strange speech, can they repeat a simple sentence clearly? Confusion is a red flag.

T
Time

Time is critical, if you see ANY of these signs, call 911 immediately. Every second counts.

Think You're Seeing Stroke Symptoms Right Now?

If you or someone nearby shows any BEFAST warning signs, call 911 immediately. Time lost is brain lost.
